I am trying to set up hub I was sent due to changes in December to security updates.

The microfiber plug doesn't click when I put it in phone socket.   When I plug in the hub I get power and WiFi but no Internet.  After waiting for hours I have given up and tried putting the old hub back on.   The plug clicks when I put it in the socket, I have put the old wires back in the old hub.    I get power and WiFi but no Internet.   Does this mean my wall socket is not working?  And if so what should I do?  There does not appear to be a physical person I can talk to.
