Huge lag spikes several times a day

I've recently upgraded to sky max. My kids are complaining that the new WiFi box gets a 1000 ping lag spikes several times an evening when they game on PCs. Both are connected via ethernet (same cables as the old router that didn't have issues). This also happens on wireless connection.

@DavidLang if the PCs are connected by Ethernet you can rule out WiFi interference which is the.most common cause of packet loss. Couple of thoughts the first is if you have two kids gaming and there are other family members using the connection at the sametime to stream video the Sky hub could be the issue. No isp supplied routers have QOS settings which prioritise gaming traffic. However the white Sky Max hub is pretty new and reasonably powerful so while possible that is unlikely thecsolution is to buy a gaming router which arent cheap.

The next most likely cause is an issue with the game server many so its worth checking the forums for the game to see if other users havecsimilar issues. It can beca routing issuectomthe server but Sky have pretty good pairing systems so that is unlikely unless the severvis outside the UK. That leaves the line which can be an issue but is comparativly rare and you havecto excludecother causes before Skybwill take the issue further.
