Re: Huge drop in Broadband speed once your contract runs out

When my VPN is running the speed is negligible compared to not running, it's the connection drops i'm wondering about, lets see how i get on.

Thank you very much for your help, it's got me thinking. 🙂

Re: Huge drop in Broadband speed once your contract runs out

experiencing the EXACT same issue here. I just renewed my TV package but choose not to renew the broadband and keep it running on a monthly basis and not only the speed, but the reliability has tanked to the point in tethering my mobile phone for work to use the 4G....

I unfortuntely dont have Virgin Media in my area or i would switch over in a heartbeat - I'm looking to switch over to Vodafone.

Not only this, but SKY have been downright dishonest about their "Speed Guarantee" where they refund you if your speed falls below the minimum advertised speed. I spoke with an agent who advised me "i dont need to do anything" to get a refund as the speed test is run automatically and a refund automatically processed if it falls below.... which i thought seems awfully too convenient for the customer! Turns out this was a complete fabrication too and when i spoke to them again i was advised i would recieve a refund for only my last bill, despite the speeds not being up to the mimumum level for around entire contract length, despite engineer visits and me repeatedly reporting issues.

Yip!

Same issue here.

Called on Saturday to give 30days notice as per the RPI increase (perfect opportunity for me to leave SKY) given their poor customer service and that it was six months to get a refund cheque for my deceased brothers account (they kept sending the cheque payable to himself!) unable to understand a dead person can't cash a cheque, but that is a different matter altogether.

Since Sunday morning Internet has been poor with download speeds of around 30MB and less.  We have never had a problem until now.

Is it a coincidence? I think not given what I have been reading on forums.

It is clear the fine levied by Ofcom is less than the financial gains of forcing people to recontract, or the loss in customer profit.

Bye Bye Sky!  I wish I could say it has been a pleasure (removed)
