I need to split 5GHZ and 2.4GHZ on the new Sky max hub (white)
I spoke to sky on the phone earlier and they cannot tell me how to do it as it's been removed from their scripts but it can be done....
Can somebody please advise how to do this on the new hub?
I've trawled through the forums and found how to do it but only for the older hubs / routers.
For added context, I've logged into my gateway and can't find the ‘Synchronise 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Settings’ box which is mentioned on the sky community for previous hubs.
Thanks

It can't be done: the only option is to switch one or both bands off entirely.

Which would be why that's not there...

I believe that's an option somewhere in the My Sky app.

@EvrenS open the My Sky app navigate to WiFi settings and then advanced settings then select the "Diable WiFi" turn iff tge 5GHz band connect the devicecthst is being difficult then re-ensble the 5GHz band again and it should stay connected.

How do I navigate to WiFi settings in the My Sky app? I can't find it anywhere

The relevant tabs may not have populated in the app yet: some subscribers have quite a wait.

I bought a wifi Extender for about 9 pound. Plugs in and connects to modem. It runs on 2.4 ghz only. When you search for it on available WiFi it comes up ( password is your router password ). You can then connect your devices that can't run on 5 mhz.

Didn't work for me. I'm just about to return the second smart device I've bought because I can't get them to connect to this stupid max box. Very shortsighted of sky to do this

Lot of devices only work on 2.4 GHZ pretty stupid to not let us access it.

Re: How do I split 5GHZ and 2.4GHZ on the new Sky max hub?
2.4Ghz is there: no ISP is going to launch a 5Ghz-only router any time soon.
The problen typically occurs when the IoT device is on 2.4Ghz but the phone/tablet hosting its app is on 5Ghz: that's why temporarily disabling the 5Ghz band can be a workaround.

Re: How do I split 5GHZ and 2.4GHZ on the new Sky max hub?
Yes - if the workaround actually works, which it didn't in my case despite attempting it several times. Really shouldn't have to be creating workarounds in the first place, I just don't get why Sky have developed a router that actually makes connecting to all these whizzy new gadgets harder! Unless they've rigged it somehow so it will only recognise their own...🤔

If that's the case then EE are in on it too: their current flagship Hub doesn't permit unsynchronized bands either.
I understand the real reason is that doing so is detrimental to wireless performance.

Re: How do I split 5GHZ and 2.4GHZ on the new Sky max hub?
You can't split bands, what on earth are Sky playing at?
I've had many routers from various ISP that you've been able to split the channel but now these muppets are removing the simple functionality.
It might sound all fancy and being helpful but when you have a device that keeps wanting to switch between frequencies it is sodding annoying.
Just let me split them and then it CANNOT happen.
If there had been info that this very obvious and simple feature wasn't available then I would have gone elsewhere with my broadband.
I've now got no flipin' choice but to go and buy a decent access point and turn off all the Wifi from this pile of utter garbage.
Congrats Sky, you listened to some simpletons that want their iphone to just work, oh and I want everything to only be adjustable via some stupid app?!
Well there is plenty of the country that actually want to be able to adjust some settings, like we've always been able to until now.
Thanks for nothing.
