How do I find my sky hub activation date

I have been a SKY customer for years but changing my services and have just received a new router.  Various SKY statements say the activation date is printed on the BOX - I would say it is NOT.  I tried the virtual assistant - worse than useless - just wastes my time.  At some stage I got a flashing image of a BOX showing an activation date - but NOT the same label as my box and no date.  I can't find anything in my messages or emails with a date.  I have read elsewhere that if I am just changing then I should be able to just plug in the new router and everything should work.  I tried that - the power light comes on, then a little later the amber light starts to blink, then later I get a green on the WIFI, the amber light goes solid and ---- then the internet light goes green - i.e. 3 greens.    THEN shortly afterwards the WIFI & internet go out and the process starts again.  Tried twice.   I then reconnect my old router and the same process except the 3 greens remain solid.

 

Should I get connected then I understand I shoul be able to connect using 192.168.0.1 and input my old Wireless Name, Password and PIN and this would enable all my existing devices to be connected without having to change each device - i.e. 2 phones, KIndle, tablet etc.  Is this correct?

@PHW100 You certainly can change the SSID name, the password for the Wireless Wi-FI, also the admin password also if you wish, not so sure about the PIN though, when you are trying the router to connect, do you have the original one powered off? Should connect straight away as you already are a sky user with an active account router wise.

Many thanks.  Take on board the mention of the PIN - to be honest not aware of having used the PIN. 

WRT the router setup - yes, I have disconnected the 'old' router

@PHW100 I setup my new SR203 by just connecting my laptop via the Ethernet cable and Not connected to anything else, adjusted the SSID and the 2 passwords, split the bands because i wanted to do so, set the router to wanoe as it was going to connect to a fttp ont box, when sky said i was live just disconnected my EE and plugged in the SKY, the router did a FW update to the latest and after that was all good to go.

 

Have also did similar with sky for 18yrs apart from the EE blip that sky caused me last year back now though, when swapping old models to new, my current settings are way back years using really old settings but thats my prefference than fighting major connections on the network. Hope it all works out.

Thanks again.  As stated the process appeared complete - 3 greens - then the router just restarted the process again.  Such a time consuming process but will try again - maybe leave overnight!

@PHW100 If you sit it somewhere, not connected, same sequence will happen but internet light will just stay orange, and it should not continually reset itself.!

 

What service are you changing from that requires a router replacement, and is it SR203 to SR203 you are doing, not something like G.fast swap over?

All completed now.

 

Once I had 3 green lights then the WIFI & Internet went out - patience is eventually rewarded, another minute and the 3 greens came back and I made the changes too enable my old WIRELESS NAME & PASSWORD to be used.

PS - I downgraded my SKY package - just bought a FREELY TV.  I was also paying far too much for broadband - hence I was offered a better deal and they replaced the router (didn't really need to but makes sense).  The old router just had 2 ethernet ports - the new has 4 (only use two at the moment)

@PHW100 Got it, your old Q style flat router was to be replaced anyway shortly as now reached the obsolete state and not able to updated for new features, glad you had the patience to wait and let it do it's thing. You will like the new SR203 good router no matter what anyone else say's...👍
