How do I connect my mini box to my laptop and monitor

My parents have the main router in the lounge. They have a mini box which we've moved to another room where they have a laptop and monitor. Do I need a wire to plug into the mini box and laptop? I've plugged the mini box into the monitor, sky works works but how do I get this connected to the laptop so we have a good signal. Is there a different connection for the mini box so I would look for a different connection to the one in the lounge? . If I turn the monitor off the light on the mini box goes red instead of green. Although the power cable is plugged in. Any help would be great. 🙈

I've read this several times and I'm none the wiser what you're trying to do?

If the monitor has an HDMI input then you can probably plug the Sky mini in and watch TV (sound may be an issue unless the monitor has speakers?)

Not sure where the laptop fits into all this?  You can run Sky Go and don't need the mini box at all...

hi @Hutch1107

I am afriad, I am not clear what you have or are trying to ask about.

You have posted in the SKY Q (TV) group - are you asking about a SKY mini box being used to watch TV or are you asking about connections for a computer to wifi or something else ?

Sorry, I need WiFi boost for his laptop.

I guess I just need a cable from the mini box to the computer. Sorry to be vague but I haven't a clue.

That doesn't help either.

Are you saying you cannot pick up internet on your laptop?

A Q Mini (television) box can act as a wireless bridge using an ethernet cable to a client device such as a PC.

This lets a PC with only an ethernet port connect to WiFi: it does not (and cannot) 'boost' signal to the Mini box.

To improve the signal from the router or the main Q box to a Q Mini box you need to request that Sky loans you a Q wireless booster.

The laptop needs a WiFi boost yes. Is there a cable I can buy from mini box to a laptop.

If the laptop has an ethernet port, then that would be an ethernet cable.  If there's no port then you'd need a USB to ethernet adapter plus an ethernet cable.

Note that the WiFi is still only as good as the signal reaching the Mini box: these devices can't magically increase it.

It's a Mini box halfway between a Sky router and a client device which is most beneficial.
