Re: How do I change from 5GHz to 2.4 on sky? says select wifi from the menu bar but I cannot find it

In My Sky I have two entries: SR213 with switches for 2.4GHz & 5GHz and ADS9etc with switches for 2.4GHz, Low 5 GHz and High 5 GHz.

My router says it is in 5GHz yet my Ring connected, evn thaough it said it needed 2.4 GHZ.

Now my downlights will not connect and tell me I need 2.4GHz.

Can anyonme explain what is going on please?

@PeterCee by default Sky hubs broadcast a 2.4GHz and 5GHz signal which is synchronised so you see a single SSID on most devices. Modern Ring devices will connect to this single SSID without issue but only use the 2.4GHz band to communicate. Most modern devices are the same but some IOT kit have wifi chips that wont connect to a dualband SSID. The recommended method to connect these to a white hub is to temporarily switch off the 5GHz band connect the kit then turn the 5GHz band back on.

If you still have a SR213 booster I assume you still have Sky Q boxes? If so you have in essence two wifi networks. The main one is the white Sky hubs to which you can connect your devices. The second is for the Q boxes as Q mini boxes and the SR213 which can't connect to the new hubs wifi. You cannot connect your third party devices to this second network. The SR213ccan act as a booster to improve connectivity between the Q boxes in which case it is connected using wps.

Thanks Chrisee, I will try that over the weekend. As I understand it, my new white router is braodcasting 2.4KHz and 5 KHz eveon thoughthe router info says 5KHz. I have a Sky engineer coming next week as I couldn't connect the Sky Q mini boxes despite an hour on the phone problem solving. Thanks for your advice

@PeterCee2.4 and 5Ghz frequency range with the combined one ssid for a sky Max hub, good luck with the Q and mini arrangement!
