How do I continue to use my old telephones now that I have fibre broadband - Outreach suggested that I need a VOIP adapter to be able to use my existing phones without plugging it into the back of the router. Will a BT adapter work with a Sky system?

So long as you don't have a bt digital voice phone you can plug the existing phone into the back of the hub which has its own ata adapter built in

No, it will not: BT Digital Voice hardware is proprietary to BT Broadband.
The only relevant 'converter' is built into the Sky Broadband Hub and Max Hub and uses the phone socket on those routers.
For telephone handsets elsewhere you need a standard DECT phone system, not VOIP. Sky (and all other ISPs) don't have any equivalent of the BT system because only BT has a heritage of phone manufacturing.

Thank you that is disappointing, as I have an antique phone that I would like to continue using but not where my router is😫

Any phone with a bt phone jack will work including antique and retro style phones. The exception is bt digital voice branded phone
