How can I link my new sky if with my new broadband account when I just get an error every time

I have just got my first sky broadband account and received my box but it doesn't connect and I cannot link my sky I'd to my account in order to test it because clicking Link to Account on the web site always gives an error.  Any ideas how to link? The phone "support" only thinks that I am asking to link to a mobile account.
