Did you call Sky about getting a booster or did you just take out broadband boost when you ordered Sky broadband?

By 'Boost device' I assume you mean 'Sky booster'? When you take out the Broadband Boost subscription you are not automatically sent a booster, you need to call Sky and claim one which will then be sent to you.
