10 days ago broadband went from 30mbs to 8. App said external fault, Openreach arrived, said its a router issue which was sent. Didn't rectify issue still 8mbs, app says again external line fault, Openreach to attend. Now had 10 days with low speed which also drops out.
Im on a rolling contract (will leave if not sorted) what are my rights and is it true that my line all of a sudden can't handle the speed of 30mbs! Any help please wb great!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Ponki this is happening more frequently your line has developed a fault which Openreach are declining to fix as the line has a limited life as at some stage in the next few years they will be switching to full fibre.
Therefore Openreach simply lower the guaranteed speed for your line. As you are out of contract you are free to switch to another ISP at any time if you were in the fixed term Sky would release you from thst commitment. However be careful who you switch to as if the company uses the same line they will hit the same issue (even if they say they wont as that will be based on the old speed) this applies to many ISPs like EE, Talk Talk. Therefore it is only worth switching if your home has access to a different network like Virgin Media or you use a mobile or satellite option.

Hi I'm just following the thread from last month where u kindly replied. If I change to Giggaclear I suppose this won't sort the problem as it will just use the existing line and link fibre from my house to it? Is that correct? Thank you for all your help

No, Gigaclear have their own fibre network which is completely indepedent of Openreach.
But typically you're offered a great deal to switch, then clobbered at renewal. You then have to try to negotiate hard, swallow the increase or move back to slow speeds.

Thank you-Gigga have offered there package of 300 plus booster for £26. Nearly half that Sky offers for lousy WiFi. Think I might go for it on 18 months then haggle or move. Thanks again!
