Got it 👍 You’re imagining a Sky Broadband setup with an external backup box that holds a SIM card (

  1. Sky broadband is your primary internet.
  2. A backup SIM box (could be a 4G/5G router, dongle, or a failover device) connects to your router.
  3. The failover mechanism monitors the Sky connection:
    • If Sky broadband is working → all traffic goes through it.
    • If Sky broadband fails → traffic is rerouted automatically through the SIM box (mobile network).
  4.
  5. Your home devices (Wi-Fi, LAN) never notice the switch.

E you're already offering the service to customers as a backup solution with a backup power supply battery for phone line and broadband if the Internet goes out or your electric goes out I believe that always connection in the 21st century as the ideas to the future of a really good Internet company  ┌───────────────────────┐

this is just an idea maybe Sky could come up with a better idea and a solution. I would love to see a backup Sim card that I pay £10 a month for to cover if the Internet goes down especially specially when Sky do update at 2 am in the morning where I lose connectivity

@trefor-parr

As I said in your thread last November, Sky currently chooses to offer this facility to their Business Broadband customers.

To have it in domestic broadband you'd need to use BT (as I do) or EE as your ISP, where it's a £7 pcm subscription supplement.

@trefor-parr there are neater technical solutions than the one you propose. EE offer one as does Sky Business. Sky domestic services do not presumably because they judge that the demand would not be sufficent to be profitable. One thing you can be certain of though is Sky are aware of the possibility and constantly monitor competitors' offerings.
