Giga clear full fibre in Rural areas where BT open reach have not installed full fibre.
Why is Sky not giving Rural customers the option to transfer to Gigaclear Full fibre where BT Open Reach do not intend to upgrade the network from part copper to full fibre optic service until late 2027. Feel rural communities are at a disadvantage advantage and being discriminated as Sky employing bully boy heavy tactics to keep rural customers on slow copper cable installations!

@Sk1R1D Gigaclear if available to you then that is a independent option for you to go to! Sky have no influence in how OR run there business!

@Sk1R1D like most larger ISPs Sky have up until recently avoided offering services through Gigaclear or any of the other Altnet companies installing fibre and sticking only with Openreach. However last year they made an agreement with Cityfibre and have started offering services over their network in the last 2 months.
Unlike Cityfibre Gigaclear operate as an isp and do not partner with any of the larger isps so they simply may not want to work with the likes of Sky, Talk Talk or evensmaller specialists ISPs like Zen. It takes two to tango.
Not sure I follow your argument about bully boy tactics. Openreach and City Fibre are undertaking commercial roll outs of full fibre to over 30 million homes inevitable some rural areas are commercially unattractive Sky can only supply a fibre servicecif a home has access to either City Fibre's or Openreach's network.

Well, yes, because it's harder and therefore more expensive for Openreach (not Sky) to get the new optical network out there...
Frankly it makes sense for Gigaclear or any other altnet ISP to target areas that Openreach ISPs cannot currently reach.

@TimmyBGood agreed but going by the ISPreview article even Gigaclear arecstruggling to make rural fibre work financiallydespite a high takeup rate.

@JimM1 that smacks a bit of desperation. Would of thought having what is essentially a captive market was sufficent and their customer service has been reviewed well.

Gigaclear was installed in our street 8 months ago so Sky should either offer the Gigaclear full fibre option or not be difficult about transferring telephone number to Gigaclear and not charge punitive charges even though contract ending 31st August I contacted Sky 1st August 2025 to tell them I do not want Sky Signature anltinate but they won't acknowledge my communication Then raised it as a complaint so I have date but they still dont seem to understand. Sky not helpful.

Been with sky 4 years previouly talk talk. Sky dont seem to realise people dont need to. S of different tv programmes thers a limito what one wishes to watch so should be able to by smaller tailor made options looking forward to leaving.

@Sk1R1D Gigaclear do not appear to sell wholesale access to their network so Sky cannot supply a service through the network even if they wanted to. Sky routinely transfer landline numbers as part of the One Touch Switching sustem assuming yhe new provider can manage the switch. Never heard of Sky charging to transfer a phone number.
Normally all you need do is to contact your new provider who will handle the cancellation with Sky. Assuming you are out of contract therecshould be no charges from Sky assuming you return their hub if requested.
