@FinnieFinFin

To force a non hexadecimal string through you would need to use

'anything@skydsl|anything'   or

"anything@skydsl|anything"

The question is whether the router is compatible with client identifier (dhcp option 61)

@FinnieFinFin when talking to the maker check that your unit is configured and certified for UK use as wifi regs are significantly different here from say the US..

Re: GLiNet router cant connect due to SKY not permitting

GLiNET have said each unit is shelved for EU, US and Asia

This being said, they didn't cover if the firmware was changed for these regions

I have seen documents show you how to change this manually but hopefully the company already thought of this when they shelved the units

Authentication query

....yeah....

Fedup of repeating myself again and again and no doubt you experts are as well

But I still cant get my 3rd party router to connect to sky's authentication?

GLiNet Marble B3000 home router supports all ISP settings but does not support a MER feature.

That said, people dont need this MER and have used the authentication username pass and vlan to setup their own routers!

Sky's username is

Username: anything@skydsl|skydsl

Pass: anything

Vlan: 10

Right?? correct??? or am i wrong...again....

Below are some other options to gain access to sky but im not this tech savy and i'll end up messing everything up...

WHY CANT SKY DO THINGS NORMAL!!!.Kszb rfIGYVUYYJSADB,MFN VBGKT KJ

So going to leave sky if i cant get anywhere in the next week. Fedup with the sht time and time again...

open wrt forum they state the following:

download wireshark and install.
run wireshark and turn off the sky router and boot back up and you should see the sky Credentials with some searching. Write this password down and save it as you need use it to produce HEX Key found here http://string-functions.com/string-hex.aspx 56 once that is done. copy that and save it.

on my DM200 with open-wrt installed

Log on to the web interface (default ip 192.168.1.1), you may be asked to set a password

Navigate to the "network" tab

Click on the edit button for the wan connection

2.4) Make sure the protocol is set to DHCP Client (click Save and Apply if any changes are made)

Navigate to the "Advanced Options" tab

Add the final key you generated into the Client ID field Thats the HEX Key

Add 6.14.1aN_UNI|PCBAFAST2504Nv1.0 to the Vendor Class field

Click "Save and Apply"

On the WAN Page go to physical setting and add this in the interface drop down box "dsl0.101" save and apply

Reddit they state this:

Setup the interface for Sky router

Go back to the Interfaces tab and ‘Add new interface’.

Give it a name, e.g. SkyInterface

Select Protocol as ‘Static’

Select the interface you just removed from the bridge, e.g. lan5

Once it is created, configure it as follows:

IPv4 address: e.g. 192.168.99.1 (a different subnet to your other OpenWrt subnet and also different to the subnet set up on the Sky router).

IPv4 net mask: 255.255.255.0

Advanced settings

Delegate IPv6 prefixes - tick

IPv6 assignment length: 61

IPv6 prefix filter: wan6

Firewall settings

Assign it to the LAN zone (you can create a separate zone for it later, if preferred)

DHCP server

Enable a DHCP server for the interface

In Advanced settings:

Dynamic DHCP - tick

DHCP Options: 43,53:6b:79:42:42:2d:44:48:43:50

(The above is hex for SkyBB-DHCP on option 43 - required for the Sky router to accept an IPv4 IP address)

IPv6 settings

RA-service and DHCPv6 service both to: server

IPv6 RA settings

Default router: automatic

Enable SLAAC: tick

RA flags: other config

Save and Apply all of the above and it should be ready to go.

Re: GLiNet router cant connect due to SKY not permitting

@Chrisee @cookiemonsteruk @TimmyBGood @mae-3

@mae-3in a thread you posted to @Huntforserenity you stated this "The Linksys WRT3200ACM can take open-source firmware that does support DHCP Option 61, two open-source projects to look at are OpenWRT and DD-WRT for Linksys and other routers."

The GLiNet router B3000 i have also supports openwrt and its built inside. There are other vpn services they offer build inside and a few clicks and your good to go. Or you can manually enter in your own VPN of choice

But I need a live connection before I can do any of these and im struggelling to understand why the heck i cant get any connection???

Here is a tech report https://tech.scargill.net/the-very-new-gl-inet-marble-gl-b3000-wifi6-router/

One of the best posts ive seen was from an amazon person who bought the router: https://www.amazon.com/GL-iNet-GL-B3000-Wall-Mountable-Dual-Band-WireGuard/dp/B0D7PTFZZM#customerRev...

Lonnie M.

But, I dont understand anything he's going on about.

help help help me get connected!!!

@FinnieFinFin as we have explained before you do not need a hex string if your router supports DHCPv4 Option61 it is a simple text string that has been given to you repeatedly. The issue is your hub does not have support for that authentication method out of the box it would need flashing with an open source DD-WRT firmware which offers that support.

Re: ??? any help here

hi @Chrisee

Thank you for getting back to me,

I dont know how to flash or do any fancy tech stuff. I spoke to GLiNet and they said all you need is the Hex client ID to add in the DHCP Client ID. Then youll be able to get a connection. Below is the image i posted but if you didnt see it before hopefully it works now

Re: ??? any help here

Okay, fair enough

General question then. Not related to sky router of any internal firmware, just a question based on tools per se

Based on your experience and im confident you know where im going with this question. Are you able to find a good online hex tool that generates DHCP Client ID's?

I understand sky can be very subjective but this is a genral enquiry not relating to the sky router, a simple question.

If sky have a problem with free speech they can call up the prime minister
