Full fibre engineer didn’t show up - helpline gave the lamest excuse I’ve ever heard

So, my upgrade to full fibre was booked for today, between 8am - 1pm. I took the day off to be here for it.  At 12.46, I get a text message saying the engineer "has arrived on site and is connecting your service" - complete rubbish, no one arrived! 

I eventually got through on an 0333 number this evening to ask what was happening - the call centre person said that the appointment was simply the engineer checking the connection somewhere else, and that I shouldn't have expected them to show up?!  This is patently nonsense! All the automated text correspondence goes on about being ready to have my walls drilled this morning … 

Please retrain your call centre staff! And when am I getting the fibre upgrade I have already paid for?! Am I even going to get another appointment?!
