Re: Free upgrade

They gave use vague information such as upgrades will continue from December untill spring which is 6 months , I’d like to know more specific dates of when it’s likely to happen for me.

Re: Free upgrade

Ah I see. Yes, it's possible if you've already been advised that you'll be upgraded that Sky  might be able to tell you further down the line when the upgrade will happen. Wouldn't bet on it, though, in all honesty!

Unfortunately, that's unlikely to happen. Openreach are running a volume commitment special offer for ISPs to upgrade users. Usually those involve Openreach having final control of the actual upgrade dates (so they can balance workload/resources).

Re: Free upgrade

I'm on a discounted offer which ends at the beginning of Feb 2019 (£20 disc to £10 and £18.99 line rental)  I've checked my January bill and the price goes up once the discount drops off meaning i'll pay £38.99 instead of £28.99 for my "free upgrade"!  I'll be giving them a call early in the new year to discuss options ....

That's not what you're paying for the free upgrade, it's simply the normal consequence of your discounted offer ending and would have been the same even if you hadn't been one of lucky ones to receive the upgrade. Yes, give them a call when your current offer is about to end and see what they can do for you.

Re: Free upgrade

@OGsagex

spring time 2019 was latest time for upgrades to be completed .

I'm not expecting faster speeds this  year.

maybe a few will get early dates .

I've an eternal HDD to purchase 1st to store blue ray movies.

then my apple 4K tv can make use of rapid fibre speeds as can skyq+Minibox.

maybe in a few years landline calls will be i

overtime  fibre.

kits to look forward to.

Enjoy once it arrives

Re: Free upgrade

Snap, I`m on that deal with the £10 discount granted a few years ago if you took sky sports so my phone and fibre 34mb is 28.99. Interesting reading about the free upgrade to max as  I had an e.mail ( no paper letter ) a while ago stating it would roll out December time BUT I had reason to contact Sky yesterday and enquired about the deal and nobody knew anything about it and just told me I could pay £5 extra per month plus router postage to get max 63mb. Thought I had dreamt about the free upgrade until reading this forum.

Re: Free upgrade

Hi @beejays not every customer is being offered a free upgrade but if you are you would have had a letter explaining the process.  The upgrades will happen sometime between now and Spring 2019 you will get an email when it has been done but until then people have to be patient. You can check the messages section in My Sky to read any communications from Sky.

Re: Free upgrade

Hi Chrisee thanks for your comment although you`ve worried me a bit as I didn`t/haven`t had a paper notification however my e.mail was personalised and headed Great News we`re bringing you even faster fibre.

Taking it I may be lucky and get this upgrade, I did ask the Sky guy ( who didn`t know anything about it and was going to charge me £5 a month to upgrade ) whether I needed a different router to cope with the increased speed to which he said "yes". Is this correct? I have a basic 34mb square looking black router ..is it a WAP 2?

@beejays I posted earlier in this thread, the FAQs for this upgrade state that you do NOT need a router upgrade, the existing one is able to handle the higher speed.

Re: Free upgrade

I had the letter at the start of this thread and an email yeaterday stating the update has been processed and will be live in up to 72 hrs

Said line can support 71-80mb and guaranteed 67mb

Had a look this morning and it was only 62mb connection in the router stats with a speedtest 2m from the router at only 38mb

I hope this is the settling doen process and not interference from Sky Q
