Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
Thank you KevNewMedia, would I still keep the same phone number? At present we only use the line for the broadband. I don't have free/unlimited calls and assume that it would remain the same.
when the engineer visits would they need to install cables into the property ?
thanks for any help and advice you are able to give me. I just want to make sure I'm doing the right them before I swap.

Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
Thanks for the link and confirming it's genuine. Seems like a good offer . I've looked at other broadband providers and my current cost is about the same as others (not including new customer offers).
I'll probably go for the offer now.

Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
Many thanks for your help. Im still undecided as we changed to streaming tv over a year ago and hate it. Cannot fast forward through adverts and trailers. Plus can never remember which episode we watched last and end up taking about 30 minutes to find right episode as keep having to watch the adverts before we get to the series only to find we've seen that one and then need to start again!! Much preferred the old system where things we put in the planner showed what we had or hadn't seen.

Re: Free upgrade to Sky Full Fibre
Thank you, this is a really helpful thread as I've just received the same whatsapp message and appointment time. I feel Sky are not very 'joined up' in their thinking as only a month ago they investigated upgrading us and told us it was too expensive for them to route the necessary cables to our house. However, they automatically put me onto a new 24 month contract even though the upgrade didn't go through. I had to really battle to get this reverted, and even then they only conceded to new 24 month contract but no early release fee. A friend said that BT would probably carry out the works so im looking to swap.

Re: Free upgrade to Sky Full Fibre
Hi RBeck, we did go ahead with the upgrade and have been very happy with it. The BT engineer who visited to do the necessary work was extremely helpful and informative. Sky had made it sound like someone just visited to make the connection which was not the case, it was a bit more detailed and in-depth but the BT engineer made sure everything was perfect before he left.
Hope it all goes well for you.

Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
Does anyone know anything about Sky upgrading an existing customer from Openreach FTTC to CityFibre FTTP?
I've had whatsapp and emails asking me to upgrade to FTTP, and sky offer cityfibre FTTP at my address for new customers.
Cityfibre is the only FTTP available at my address; my neighbours have FTTP cityfibre connections on my pole using vodaphone.
But every time I call they say I can't have it.
Is it going to take weeks or years for me to get a FTTP upgrade?
I would have had it by now if I hadn't been an idiot and renewed my sky contract in April!

It's Openreach which carries out the physical installation of the optical circuit, and even though Openreach Ltd is wholly owned by BT Group they are obliged to offer all ISPs the same pricing for such work. If the estimate exceeds the standard £2800 maximum for any individual property then it's likely to be declined.

Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
Although Sky has had a carriage deal with CityFibre since last year, they apparently cannot offer their broadband service over CityFibre in every location: something to do with the upstream infrastructure.

Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
It must just be sky's backend systems because sky are offering Cityfibre FTTP to new customers on my street and pole!
My next-door neighbour (on my pole) moved in and had Vodafone FTTP on CityFibre in 14 days.
The only problem is that the existing FTTC Openreach sky people aren't being upgraded to Cityfibre FTTP even though they are getting emails and whatsapps!

Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
@BrianStalker has Sky ever approached you about Ultrafast 1 Broadband as that runs via FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet ) which then connects to the copper line that goes to your property, its true name is called G-Fast a kind of booster hardware which Sky then (you can find this info on google) rebranded as Ultrafast 1 broadband, there was also an Ultra fast 2 broadband too , but i don't think this is being advertised or promoted anymore. For Gfast to work and i looked this up its a mixture of hybrid fibre which is then connected to a copper line capable of running up to 300mb download and up to 30mb upload
For speeds up to 300/350mb using Gfast the service user has to be close to the FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet) the further down the line you are from the green cabinet housing the gfast hardware booster you should and in my case get in the region of 150 to a 154mb even though the correct speed is about 160mb but Sky wont offer this
The service was cheap and easy to deploy at the time especially if you were under Sky's previous offerings such as Sky Fibre Unlimited and Sky Super Fast Broadband which only surpassed speeds between 30mb and 80mb's using the FTTC (Fiber To The Cabinet) to copper formula, sadly this Gfast technology was discontinued by BT Openreach in 2019 in favour of Fiber To The Premises (FTTP) which after 10 years is no where to be found in my area
With Sky Q eventually phasing out by around 2028-2029 Sky wants all its customers to eventually move on to Sky Stream my main concern is that if the Gfast booster that Sky is using is no longer maintained by Openreach for when faults do ocurr and need fixing i and guess many others will see their services reduced back down to the old speeds of 30mb to 80mb, streaming movies in 4K will simply be unwatchable

Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
Is I mentioned in response to your other post, G.fast is scheduled to be overbuilt by FTTP before the December 2026 target for the end of the commercial phase of the national FTTP rollout.
