Sky have texted me to offer Full Fibre 100 at no extra charge and it's unusual to get something for nothing so I'm wondering if once I am out if contract it will go up massively and I will have no option but to pay?
Also is it worth paying extra for anyway? We're are 2 older people not fussed about internet speed but we may go to sky glass later and might need the extra speed.
Just not sure what to do any help is appreciated.
thank you
Sharron

Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
@Sharra Just make sure that the offer is valid and do not reply to the text as it may not be a sky reference but a possible scam, eventually all will be changed to Full Fibre when and if it is all available, looking at the sky broadband the FF100 is currently at £26 / month for new customers with an out off contract price not shown but you should be able to see that if you check, My FF500 is £29 with an out of contract at £46 when it runs out at 24 months.
Changing now may save you but more than likely also kick off a new 24 month contract so just be aware off all the facts! Be carefull off anything that is to be added on and just make sure that nothing extra is charged, i only had £5 to secure everything, but Sky Advisor was true to her word.

Openreach/BT Wholesale is incentivising ISPs to encourage migration from legacy copper to new fibre-optic broadband because they are somewhat concerned about the relatively low uptake of the national rollout so far.
so I'm wondering if once I am out if contract it will go up massively and I will have no option but to pay?
By definition prices always increase at the end of a discounted minimum term unless a new (two year) contract is entered into, but at that point the user is free to switch to any other Openreach ISP and take advantage of their new customer prices.

Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
I would also be interested in answers on this as I have also received the text. We are happy with our speed as it is so not sure I would want to change.
I am concerned it is not a genuine Sky offer and possibly a 3rd party. Sky make it almost impossible to contact them to find out.

Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
@Anita16 If you goto www.sky.com login and if you can upgrade to the FF100 then it will be good.

Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
Thanks JimM1, I did try looking at my account and it would be an extra amount each month, nowhere did it mention this offer they sent by text. When I phoned to check was told they cannot see special offers that are sent out and they could only offer what I could see on my account as an upgrade. I just wanted them to tell me it was legit but they seemed unable,to confirm yes or no.
I'm just going to ignore it ........ as my other half said they don't give you something free for nothing which is very true!!

@Anita16 Wise person your other half! You would think that sky if it was legit would have also done so by e-mail! One never knows but always better to be warry!

I have also received a message from Sky offering Fibre100. The message is on WhatsApp , which is strange as they have not used that before to contact me. I'm currently in contract until 2027 on copper line, so I'm tempted to hold off and hope they make a better offer.

Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
@BrianStalker @Sharra @Anita16 Why do you not compare and see what this link has below as it is official on the sky page and does include the Offers and Upgrades and then under Customer Deals, then there is a Full Fibre 100 offer for Sky Vip exclusive price. It surely should have some comparison to the text's whatsapp's etc!
Looks like Broadbamd at a real good price, phone number is included as usual at the NO extra cost, but just be sure to add any Talk Package as required so there are no nasty surprises for using calls not covered by the required packages!

Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
Yep I'm the same as you got it via WhatsApp but it's a platform they have never used before. All looks like sky but I'm not sure and as I'm happy with our current package I won't bother to reply either way.

Morning Everyone
As @TimmyBGood has confirmed, this isn't a scam but a programme of work that we're carrying out to help our customers move to full fibre, at no extra cost of contract lock in.

Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
Thank you KevNewMedia for clearing this query up. A question I would like answered but cannot get anyone at Sky to be able to answer is if I did change to the 100 full fibre but then felt it wasn't offering the service I needed would I be able to return to my original broadband without incurring a charge? Thank you

Re: Free Sky Full Fibre 100
@Anita16 Rather than have you wait, THERE is no return back, when you go Fibre then you stay Fibre that is a forever!!!
And also from @TimmyBGood link this is very very important, so see it below.
Good to know: With Full Fibre broadband your home phone will use your internet connection to make and receive calls instead of a traditional phone line. If you have a healthcare or medical device in your home, such as an alarm, pull cord or button you'd press to get help in an emergency, we need to check that your alarm and in-home setup are compatible with Internet Calls (VOIP). If you have no alternative way to contact the emergency services if your Internet Calls service is down, such as poor mobile signal, we won't be able to switch your broadband to Full Fibre.

As @JimM1 has said, once you've moved away from the copper network to full fibre, you can't go back. Is there something in particular that makes you think that it wouldn't work? Full fibre is the future and produces far fewer faults/issue that the copper/adsl service.
