Force a device to connect to 2.4Ghz wifi only

Is it possible to force a device to connect to the 2.4Ghz wifi channel without giving the 2.4 and 5Ghz channels different SSID names? Worcester Bosch Wave thermostat loses connection when running dual band.

For the black sky hubs read below on seperating the wifi into 2 ssids.  For the white sky max toggle on down to temporarily disable 5ghz

What colour hub do you have

You can just temporarily disable 5ghz on the black sky hubs as well.

That doesn't work as when the thermostat loses connection either from Worcester Bosch issues which they have a lot or a power cut it doesn't re connect after turning the 5ghz back on. Not much good if away from home and you need to use the app. It is a black sr203 hub

@blasteranster

The only realistic option would be to add a wireless extender of your choice with a separate SSID running 2.4GHz only.
