Fibre to Cabinet Now Available

I have noticed that "Fibre to Cabinet" (FTC) is now available in my area (end of my road) - previouusly it was all just copper lines.

I have tried asking Sky how I can benefit from this (my speeds are only 10-15mb at the moment) but they dont seem to be undertanding what I am asking (via chat - havent tried hanging on the phone for hours yet). Can anyone advise what I need to do to benefit from this upgrade - do Sky need to do something, or should my service just automatically start beneftiting from it?

@eddles78 What service are you on currently, it normally only becomes available if freed up by a line becomming available waiting for such is a lottery and jumping on it asap is also the same, only so much available in a cabinet, once all sold it's gone!

Then you get left on the old ADSL way lower speed as that is the only choice! Get off the chat and call them, speak to an agent...

Also here is the BTW use the address checker fill in the details and you will see what you can get!

Historically nothing has happened 'automatically': it's up to the occupant of a particular address to place an order for a faster service.  This might  change because Openreach need to get the last remaining users off ADSL so antique technology can be discontinued in the run-up to PSTN switch-off in January 2027.

Re: Fibre to Cabinet Now Available

Thanks for the replies

I phoned Sky this morning and they confirmed they will switch me over to a different package (same cost as paying now) but that leverages the FTTC infrastructure. Hoping my 10mb connection becomes 20 or 30!

Re: Fibre to Cabinet Now Available

Did try but it didn't like my phone number (voip) and I didn't know what to enter in the other boxes!

@eddles78 Top 2nd box click and it changes all to the address input selection.

Re: Fibre to Cabinet Now Available

Ah ha! Thank you - and good news, I was about right. Looks like minimum 20 and max 35. Which given I am around 8-10 at the moment is a big improvement (for free)

thanks again
