Re: Fibre connection dropping... Any thoughts?

The downstream synchronisation speed has gone up I'd put that down to DLM and not take much notice of the BQM currently. What's the latency like using a latency (ping) test to the bbc.co.cuk?

Re: Fibre connection dropping... Any thoughts?

@mae-3

The downstream sync speed would always fluctuate between about 74mbps and 78mbps upon each sync, even with the old router, so I'd doubt it was DLM probably just a coincidence it re-sycned about 800Kbps higher.

Ping seems pretty inconsistent too

What is the weather like at your location for it's raining here and quite windy? And does the telephone cable go overhead, if it does go overhead and weather is poor that may account for that high jitter?

Very windy and rainy here, however on our street all cables are underground. Although on the main road towards the cabinet & exchange all cables are overhead, I am not sure if our cables go there or go underground all the way to the exchange. I would think they go underground all the way.

Keep a note of the weather and an eye on the latency of the connection if it stabilises when the wind is low then that's is the answer on whether those cables go overhead near the cabinet.

Connection dropped again and downstream speed dropped too

Also noticed massive fluctuation in the noise margin, it was down to 4.9db earlier before the connection dropped and now right up to 5.8

BQM or bbc.co.uk  latency test for only interested in the latter?

Re: Fibre connection dropping... Any thoughts?

Connection dropped again this morning and if you look at the packet loss on the BQM I think the extent of the problem is pretty obvious

There is clearly a fault and this needs to be addressed by Sky. Smiley Sad

Sky are still claiming that the line has not gone down for a while. Do you know what could be making it so they cannot see line drops?

The DSLAM in the cabinet must be faulty if they cannot see the line drops.

Re: Fibre connection dropping... Any thoughts?

Hmm possibly but the thing is they can see a line drop if the router is rebooted but cant see a line drop if the line is just dropped
