Fibre and moving home
I'm loosing my mind trying to speak to someone with sense at Sky so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated. So I'm due to move at the end of July 2026 and currently have sky glass etc with gigafast fibre now I'm only moving a short distance down the road onto a farm into a barn conversion. Now the owners of the farm and said property had fibre and duct installed 2 years ago approx but the part I'm moving into was their dads who never had fibre connected so the conversion attached has it connected as does the main house but I keep getting told it's not available even though I can see it is with my eyes. Secondly first person I spoke to at sky said that the property was marked as Silver I just can't get any help

Re: Fibre and moving home
Was the fiber fitted to the main property by Openreach?

Re: Fibre and moving home
Does the conversion have its own independent postal address?
Did it at the time the fibre was installed in the main building?

Re: Fibre and moving home
Yes open reach ran the duct and fibre cables down the main drive and all 3 properties are in a line and the first and last properties are on it and connected and you use the fibre check and says full fibre at both properties

Re: Fibre and moving home
@Dave2787 enter the full address into this checker Openreach Checker
That should giveca tablecfollowed by some notes if you post a screenshot of thectable and the first three lines of the notes after obscuring the referencecto the address itvshould be possible to see what is the issue.

Re: Fibre and moving home
@Dave2787 do a similar search on this database https://www.royalmail.com/find-a-postcode as if it isnt listed you are going to be impossiblle to order broadband. If the property was used as an annex previously it is quite likely it was never added as a separate property. There is a mechanism to get addresses added to the Openreach database but that won't work unless it is on the postcode database first

Re: Fibre and moving home
@Dave2787 that appears to lis t only two properties in the barn not three. If you confirm thst the property you are buying is on the postcode database it should be possible to get your post escalated to a Sky team who can get the Openreach database sorted then it is only the minor mstter of checking what is actually in place. I think the feed from the distribution point in the road needs have a fibre for each property which may require further work.
Please never post any full addresses on a public internet forum.like this one. Fortunately as a senior superuser I have moderation powers so the addresses w.ont show.
