Fibre Instal but no Hub

So arranged for Aug 21st install.

Open reach contacted with an earlier available date -- 07/07/25.

They are at my property doing all the wiring to the property, but i have not received a Hub to wire the Broadband in.

Contacted SKY and was told they have no info on when it was being sent, so i gave them info from the SKY app then all the advisor repeats what i have told her.

Now apparently when the box is sent out, but they don't know when that will be, i then have to make a second appointment with SKY to get an engineer out to get it all plugged.

Whats the point of going to all the trouble to make myself availabe to get the job completed when SKY can't get there act together to get every thing arranged for a one time visit.

Sky send out the hubs (via Royal Mail) to arrive 1-5 days before your activation date. The fact you've been offered a much earlier date by Openreach has likely contributed to this.

Getting the wires put in from road to property but no hub.

Sky said another appointment needed to install the hub when it gets sent out.

@gary+in+a+bad+mood So it looks like you are getting the install done in TWO parts, civils are doing the outside up and to the property with the Fibre, will probably leave it all coiled until the second part can be done! That includes wiring from the outside to the inside, installing the new OR modem that is required, and the sending off the sky Hub is a completely different part! Update..

My sky fibre line is active but I have no hub.

And I know this because they have turned my Internet off on the old box.

Which means I have no streaming tv as well.

And they can't switch it back on apparently even tho i was told today that it wouldn't be switched off until I got my new hub.

And all they offer me is £10 for the inconvenience.

It's going to cost me more in data for 2 over the next few days.

@gary+in+a+bad+mood Have you tried the other ISP hub if it will connect and work on the ONT.

Hi, I spoke with sky and they said it wouldn't work otherwise I would have done it to tie me over.

Annoying thing is sky said they have to set the system up to switch over, but they failed to action the hub.

@gary+in+a+bad+mood Who was the original ISP and what hub? No doubt the hub is wizzing it's way out the warehouse to be with you tomorrow express delivery!

Hi, I've stayed with sky so no cross over.

They asked if the hub was the lay down type, I said yes and he said it wouldn't work. 

Plus I didn't have relevant cables

@gary+in+a+bad+mood The old Sky Q hub does not have a wan port and correct it is useless for connecting to anything apart from the old copper OR Master socket! Hopefully the hub is leaving for you tonight and you get the tracking number sent.

As the q hub has two yellow Ethernet ports on the back you can definitely connect it to the Ont by Ethernet and get a working connection

it is not recommended by sky as there is no telephone socket and has lower security standard compared to the newer boxes

@mormegil Thanks for that info. Q is now destined to come out it's box and be connected, never considered it as it had no dedicated wan port, but sure going to give that a go!🤔

Hi,

Thats what i thought, but after speaking to SKY, they were aware of the date change as they had to set up the system for the change over to Fibre
