I have sky fibre ultrafast plus, and overnight monday evening/tuesday morning my router "dropped" its connection and warned me on the screen of my Mac when I logged in, I refreshed it and all seemed ok until I came to do any downloading where it took a long time to even download small files.
On closer inspection - I ran some speed tests - Bearing in mind I have the ultrafast plus subscription:
I am getting:
5.34 Mbps average on DOWNLOADS
72.15Mbps average on UPLOADS.
I have had sky involved and nobody seems to know, they say the line speed to the property is correct.
I have rebooted the hub, even reset to factory defaults, change ethernet cables, powered everything down etc.. all the usual trobleshooting tests I can do, I have done.
What is confusing is the upload speeds are what I would expect, but the downloads are below even dial-up modem speeds... and I cannot really do my work.
I am expecting the usual - Openreach blaming SKY or SKY blaming Openreach etc..
Has anybody any other ideas I can try .... apparently a new router to replace the brand new router will be here by Saturday (problem started overnight Monday)
Router is: SR203 and the firmware is: 7.02.0501.R
Shane at SKY was helpful but I am wanting to get this resolved if possible quicker than awaiting a router.
Anybody?
Cheers
Tony

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreA new router would be the best troubleshooting step in your current case so best to wait for that to arrive and see what happens. If the issue is still occurring you'll likely need an engineer to take a look at it, sounds like something has gone wrong exchange side if the issue occurred after a dropout.
