there are times when I just restart the bt openreach box and then there's easter when we havn't used it as much. but it gets to be a daily occurance during some preiods.

 

so to be specific, there are periods of very annoying occurences when i have to restart the box, then there are periods when i may go for a while without restarting it. i normally restart all routers/internal booster hubs when i restart the openreach connection when the voice indicator goes amber on the sky router.

Thank you for much for making us aware of this problem.

 

As posts were spread across the Community, it's something that we hadn't noticed until it was brought to our attention.  I've brought together the posts to this thread, and therefore the thread might look at a bit out of sync.

 

I'm going to mark this post as answered, so people can get to the most up-to-date information quickly. This doesn't mean the problem is fixed.  When we have more information to share, we will do, and thanks again for letting us know about the problem.  Should you experience the problem, a restart of your router will restore your connection.

 

EDIT: 11/9

We have a new version of firmware available that is going through trials. Once we are in a position to do so, we will release this to everyone's hubs. If you'd like to try the software now, <fill in this form> and we will update your router.

 

Update 5/11:

I'd like to thank everyone again for your patience and persistence, whilst we worked through this problem.

 

We're now in a position to roll out the permanent fix for the problem and will be updating everyone's routers to version 7.04.0004.R. We have millions of customers, so will be rolling the update out in stages over the coming weeks. Your router will receive this update automatically, so we recommend keeping it switched on overnight, as this is when we'll carry out the update.

 

Update 25/11:

This problem has now been resolved and all customers routers have been updated to version 7.04.0004.R

Having the same issue.

 

About 8 weeks into a new Sky contract but FTTP is 20 months since install.  Had no issues with previous provider (Shell) and no wiring / connections changed other than replacing the router and power supply.

 

Yesterday the connection to the internet simply stopped.  All lights on the Openreach ONT green as usual, three green lights on the Router, one orange (Voice).  There is no phone connected to the router as we have moved to VOIP.

 

This is the third time it has stopped, and needed a reboot of the ONT & Hub to reconnect.  Looking at my Ubiquti WiFi WiFi Manager app it shows everything connected to the router but no connection between router aand internet.

 

In addition to the times it has needed rebooting it looks like the connection has been lost and reconnected automatically as I've had a web page on the PC saying there is a problem with the connection.

 

When it does it again I'll get the router error log before rebooting.

 

The thing I have noticed on the error log is a constant renewal of the IPV6 lease:

I had FTP fitted last November and the Voice light was constantly going to orange with only reboot getting it back to green , Openreach said they had resolved it but now it is doing it again , the issues I have is I lose all my remote pc access , CCTV , Ring and Security system whem Im away and can't reboot when Im not there which is a massive issue. Sky Broadband tech ( useless ) just keep saying Ive got too many devices on my system , which I do but never had issues before fibre, and that shouldnt be causing this issue anyway , it's not fit for purpose in my opinion and I cant seem to get anywere with it now.

Ive been having issues since beginning of March. Orange  voice light comes on and we lose internet despite the router showing green for internet and wifi. Ive rung sky 12 times now and all i get told is to reset router etc. then it may work for a couple of hours or a few days but eventually the orange light comes back on. Sky sent me a new router that coearky wasnt the issue as still having the same issue with new router. Then Bt open reach came out and and changed the ONT box as thats what he thought as he couldnt find a fault with line etc. been going on for 6 weeks now. Had another BT open reach guy come out yesterday and he checked everything again and said that he cant find any fault. He then messgaes his WA group for engineers and was inundated with messages from engineers who have visted customers with the same issue. Im told that sky have their own exchange which only sky have access to and there are issues at the exchange that is causing these problems. I phoned aky and was told they know nothing about this but cant help solve my problem so something isnt right. As a result i will look to move to a new supplier as three if us work from home and need a reliable system as well as having ring secruity and sky q boxes etc. never had this problem with sky before March and always happy with speeds etc but this issue has caused incredible stress to us all expeciallg my wife who runs her own business etc. very disapointed

Hello, I am a longstanding customer who has pre-existing Sky Broadband Hub and this morning out of the blue am having this issue - will be 4 green lights, then internet and voice change to amber and I lose my internet, then after 10-15 minutes will come back for a short time.  I have tried resetting and it is continuing to have the issue.  In the past hour it has done this 3 times already.  I have tried running the broadband connection test while the issue is occurring and it just reports that all looks good.

I have been having same issue since last year. Next time I get the orange light, Iam going to try and remove the ethernet cable to the ONT and see what happens.

My connection was down this Morning again when I woke up. This has been exactly one week since last time it went down. This is confirmed by the single orange Voip light on the router.

 

I removed the ethernet cable and put it back in and and it started working again so didnt have to reboot. Im not sure what this means.

We've started getting this. It normally happens around 10pm but tonight it happened at 7:30pm. A quick reboot sorts the issue out and it only happens every few weeks. It's a tad annoying 😕

We are in same boat day 10 now and nothing been done and no communication from sky either. Are we expecting to just sit and take it and not say anything. We need the internet for everyday needs like alarms cameras and work and study for the kids is vital now due to exams. No one here nor on phone can help unless they actually go to the servers and check and replace the broken server issue. can't cancel they say as it's against there rules. well I think now after 10 days I should be allowed too, there no communication to say they are fixing it just get the usual try this try that everytime we ring. Can't they read the monitor and what's in the notes. seriously though what on earth are they doing that takes this long to find the fault. I tell you absolutely nothing, hoping it resolves it self which it won't so where now so we stand after 10 days. No internet no phone either as it's voip. Talk about stressing customers out. Come on sky get a darn grip of ya issues.

I have had this problem since last year. Today the Voip has gone on twice. Can anyone confirm this is the same problem as mentioned in this thread. Heres my logs.

Re: On the new sky hub there is a solid orange light on voice part of the router display

I've reset, I've unplugged the power & unplugged the Internet cable & big nothing! Orange light on voice is still on. I have done all of these a few times now and been on a call to sky who have escalated the issue though it can be 48hrs until someone looks into it...

 

Any other hacks to solve this? I hardly get reception on my phone & having no TV on is just sad.
