Extension lead for Suberfast Hub

I recently took delivery of a Now Superfast Sky Broadband Hub, which works well, but the cable for it is slightly short to conveniently reach the socket, and I should like to extend it. The problem is that I understand that the normal extension lead can't cope with the technical requirements of a VOIP installation, and could harm the router.  Can anyone come up with a solution, bearing in  mind that I am not technically  minded?                                Thanks Calfont Mac

That's not the case: there's no problem with using a normal mains extension cable.

@chalmac out of the roughly 6 million Sky hubs a significant number will be using a mains extension leads including my own with zero issues. In practice the units power supply is not that sensitive and converts the incoming AC mains power to low voltage DC. Dont think you have anything to worry about if you use a standard mains extension cable to plug the hub's power brick into but avoid low voltage extension cables as there are possible issues with polarity. However the white Sky hubs can be powered using a standard usbc cable if you want.

@chalmac If the answer's are not what you need, then you have to say WHAT cable you require to extend on your system and the easiest way is have a look say what you see when connected to the back off the hub, and what the other end is connected too!

Re: Extension lead for Suberfast Hub

@Chrisee The Sky Max hub's are they operating on a standard (5V USB c) connection although maybe a little higher current. Or is the adapter assuming that is how connected got the higher output voltage? For instance the SR203's power adapter is rated 12V @ 1.47A and 17W Centre pin positive on it's barrel connector and the cable length is 5 foot!

@JimM1 my SR213 is currently powered by an Apple USB C adapter which iIRC is rated at 45w but given USB C power delivery can include 12v according to this source https://manhattanproducts.eu/pages/usb-c-pd-charging-everything-you-need-to-know I would suspect it is running at 12v rather than 5v.

Re: Extension lead for Suberfast Hub

Thanks for the trouble taken.  I should have mentikoned that my set-up is very recent and is geared towards digital telephone.   It is this which leads to the possibility of damage if  a standard extension lead is used.   Does your equipment cope with VOIP requirements?

A mains power connection has nothing to do with the Voice over Internet Protocol.

Re: Extension lead for Suberfast Hub

@chalmac The digital side whether full or partial depending on what you have is nothing to do with the delivery of how sky implement the version of the landline to you, what is it in specific that you are asking about with the Mains Power side!

If it is about loss of signal etc that is a completely different topic to what is best!
