@deb+bg  You can put your PC anywhere you wish, however if you are relying on wifi to connect then this may not be the most suitable for WFH as I would always recommend connecting by ethernet cable.

You could use Powerline adapters if you are unable to run an ethernet cable from the hub to your new location.

So long as the house is on the same electric circuit the powerline adapters (per @GD1 ) would use the electric wiring to connect a device to the hub

You would have say 1 metre of ethernet connecting the hub to the mains circuit via 1 adapter and another connecting the device to the mains and the electric wiring act in lieu of a longer ethernet cable

@deb+bg  As per the image in @TechmanagerMal  post imagine the half with the pc is you new location and the half with the router is downstairs, assuming the house wiring can handle powerline adapters you have one plugged in near your pc with an ethernet cable from that to the pc, the other is plugged in near your hub and an ethernet cable from that to the hub.

@deb+bg

A desktop PC can typically be equipped with WiFi by using a USB wireless 'dongle' or an internal expansion card.
