I have SkyQ, Sky router, Sky wifi booster and 2 mini boxes and Sky Broadband Ultrafast Plus. We had our PS5 connected to the Sky wifi booster by ethernet cable. Sky engineer visited because 1 mini box was not working properly and said only Sky equipment should be connected to the wifi booster and it was probably causing the mini box freezing problem. Now of course my son is complaining that now the PS5 is wifi only it is not performing when he is playing his games even though on my laptop the speed in the room is about 100mbps. If I get a wifi extender and connect it to the PS5 by ethernet will this boost PS5 perfomance. Sorry to be so long winded. Regards Paul.

No it will likely make it worse if anything. WiFi isnt magic and if you keep trying to boost/repeat it via extenders it just ends up getting worse.
Your best options would be to run an ethernet cable directly from the Sky router or look into using powerline adapters which use your electrical wiring to carry the ethernet signal.

Thank you very much for your reply.
In fairness to the engineer he showed me on his tablet a sky document to enginners specifically saying only sky products should be attached to the sky wifi booster. He said this was the reason the nearest mini box was freezing. I am a 74 year old pensioner so not very techie and i purchased the faster internet thinking it would stop my son from shouting and complaining about his PS5 performance. The new much faster wifi without the ethernet connection is a disaster. Will a wifi extender placed near the PS5 solve the issue?

We got the TP-Link TL-PA8033PKIT AV1300 3-Port Gigabit Passthrough 2x2 MIMO Powerline Adapter Starter Kit from Amazon. It has solved the problem no more shouting from upstairs about lag and other problems. Important to get the one with the passthrough socket so you dont loose a plug socket.
