Engineer visit needed for broadband upgrade. (Live in a flat)

Hi all,

I have super fast at the moment and can upgrade to ultrafast. Great but I need an engineer to visit. I've seen from other threads I might need a box installing? Crux is I live in a first floor flat so unlike a house not really accessable from the outside.

Has anyone had a similar situation or can these boxes be installed inside my flat?

I get a solid 73mb at the moment and if this is loads of hassle then I won't bother. I work at home a lot now so internet is important.

Thanks

This is the ultrafast as mentioned. What is the difference with the socket? Do I need an engineer to visit?

Ultrafast can be delivered down the existing phoneline at a higher freq but does require a visit to change your mastersocket which shouldn't take too long. So it looks like that what you're getting g.fast "ultrafast 1" 150Mbps

Could you enter your full postal address below and post the table and notes below after removing your address from the image

Also if the flat is part of a larger block have drop boxes been installed outside your flat

Hi @cookiemonsteruk

As below for my access.

I/we don't have those fittings you mentioned above outside/inside our building. It's an old converted mill so not a modern structure.

Full fibre fttp is not available. The only other package available is g.fast 150Mbps which requires a new g.fast mastersocket and uses the same copper wiring.

You should also get a new g.fast hub sr204 and your new phone socket is on the back of the hub. Its interesting to see isp's installing g.fast as it's close to being phased out

Strictly speaking G.fast isn't 'being phased out': it's just not now going to be deployed in any exchange area which doesn't currently have it.

For the situation @Iamnortherner is in it makes absolute sense, because buildings like that may well have been wired with copper for telephony before subsequent planning controls made optical deployment difficult/impossible.

It's perhaps worth noting that Sky only offers 150Mbs G.fast, but other ISPs have faster versions which your line appears to be capable of supporting.
