Earlier this week we contacted Sky about our contract coming to an end, and we mentioned our Broadband not being great in terms of speed. This afternoon I got a phone call allegedly chasing it up. A very thick Asian accent, and she got me to check my speed on my phone via www.fast.com, speed was low so then she got me to download Teamviewer QS - all the time there was a "SKY is accessing your phone" at the top of the screen. She got me to download a "broadcast" and lots of letters and numbers appeared. When finished on the TeamViewer download I got a message that we were due a refund of £400.65 for poor broadband and it was only then that I realised we'd been had and ended the call. She knew our Sky account details, such as our address, payment bank and the account holder's name. I have Avast on my phone but am worried that they can access our Sky account, and also wonder how they knew that our Sky broadband speed was an issue? It's really worrying!

A check using fast.com and download teamviewer . Definately a scam sky has their own diagnostics and wouldn't ring you proactively

Almost everyone would like faster broadband: with FTTC running over antique copper and being inherently limited by distance it's not exactly a stretch for the criminals to use that as an opening gambit.
