Dropped connections and slower speeds
For the last few days my router kept saying connection has dropped, after the first time it happened my speeds are now 1/3 of what they were. 15mbs instead of 45. Sometimes it goes down as low as 5. The connection is quite stable during the day, just slower than usual but after 3pm it disconnects every couple of mins and the speed is around 5. This continues until around 11pm when it will stay connected and return to around 15. All the tests say everything is fine apart from the speed issue. An engineer was booked on Sunday because they think there might be an external fault but still showing as to be confirmed. noise margin is currently 20db but it fluctuates constantly and can go as low as -3. Any ideas what the problem is?

Re: Dropped connections and slower speeds
Does look like a poorly line and will need engineer attention. I would keep an eye on what the engineer status says that you booked.
If you booked it on Sunday they may not get to it until tomorrow

Re: Dropped connections and slower speeds
Thanks. Should I have a date on there by now? It’s dropped about 15 times in the last hour. I also live somewhere with no phone signal on any network and have to use WiFi calling and the house phone is also reliant on broadband so I have no way to make calls while it’s like this

Re: Dropped connections and slower speeds
My router stats show 0.1db on noise margin while the constant dropouts are happening. I'm assuming that's why it keeps dropping out but why would they change like this at around the same time every day?

Re: Dropped connections and slower speeds
Now disconnecting constantly, every 5 mins or so and reconnects on its own eventually. Engineer is still to be confirmed.

Re: Dropped connections and slower speeds
You should have had an engineer confirmed by now. I've flagged your post to Sky, look out for a message on the forum
