Dreadful WiFi and dreadful service from sky

I have called several times with no real help given. Our wifi drops off EVERY day for a 5-19 minute  period.
we have 3 boosters and currently have no signal/ service  upstairs.  This is not the service I signed up for and the after sales assistant is non existent, If this is not rectified with in the next coming days, I will cancel my contract.

No ISP actually guarantees wireless speed or coverage: if you've got three boosters then you've effectively exhausted the support Sky will offer.

Note that cancellation needs to be negotiated, otherwise billing will continue.

We just signed up n got connecting yesterday to full fibre, we can hardly connect in the home? I'm considering cancelling contract as so very disappointing after years of rubbish old copper cable wires from bt, but at least we had signal!

If you now have a white Max Hub, those appear to underperform in some properties.

Re: Dreadful WiFi and dreadful service from sky

Just "upgraded" to the sky max broadband and it's awful. WiFi drops out, doesn't reach my garden. Never had any issue with old hub. Got talked into upgrading with a fab money off offer. Probably to get rid of the hubs. Got the doorbell and that doesn't work either. They've sent me out a new one but same. I've been with Sky 22 years.

Try going through this to see if it helps:

https://www.sky.com/help/broadband/my-broadband-speed/improving-wi-fi-signal-to-my-devices/articles/...

As you have Wi-Fi Max on your account then Sky will supply up to 3 pods as you can read about here:

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-max

So you can either call them on 150 from a landline phone or a mobile that has a Sky sim in it or Select "No, I still need help" at the bottom on the above link.

Re: Dreadful WiFi and dreadful service from sky

  • But how come the supposed Best ever broadband is worse than the bog standard? Why should I have to now get booster pods all round my house adding to my electricity bill and using up my plug sockets. I'd rather just go back to what I had.
I've run tests and it says I've got good connection and everything is working fine.
I've screenshotted that and I've got 4g in the corner of my phone!!

Broadband is not WiFi

The Max Hub is specified to the WiFi 6 standard but seems to struggle in some environments: only Sky themselves will know what percentage of users have issues.

Re: Dreadful WiFi and dreadful service from sky

Good point about adding to electricity bill AND unsightly looking boosters! I had not thought about those points, our outdoor cameras didnt connect, altho one is working now after we had to remove it, bring it in and hard wire it to connect, then take it back out, a total faff!!  It worked for a while, now its offline again as it cant reach wifi!!

Im really disappointed after being with BT rubbish old copper line with better wifi in the house than we now have with "super fast fibre" and a brand new router! doesnt make any sense, if they dont sort it this week, I will be looking to cancel my contract somehow as they have not delivered what was expected.
