Download speed significantly less that reported hub speed (Gigafast

I've recently upgraded to gigafast but am finding that whilst the reported speed to the router is circa 680 mbps, the output when hard wired is around the 200 mbps (with no other active connections).  The upload speeds are more in line with what I'd expected at circa 96 mbps. I've spoken to Sky a number of times and all they say is that the speed to the hub is above the minimum so they're not interested. They have previously supplied a replacement hub (SR203) and this has made no difference.

Has anyone come accross this situation before?

Router stats copied below - no attenuation or noise margin for some reason? I'd recently reset the hub which is why the system up time is low.

@Marto1 The rule of thumb is speed -50% hit on wi-fi, most use 70% as the average, so for a 680 at 70% then 480mb/s would be good, it's all about the device, the server you are hitting, how busy the network is, time off day, is pluto aligned with mars, and the sun is out not raining, if you wish to learn then have a look see the link below and you can download or print to a file.

688 mbps - been around that speed since switching to gigafast.

I could undertstand if I wasn't getting that speed using wifi, but I'd have thought a wired connection (with no other connections - confirmed by checking in the router) would have been close to this rather than around 200 mbps?

Re: Download speed significantly less that reported hub speed (Gigafast

Good point - I'd not considered this and it looks like you're right. I was using an older HP laptop (nothing newer had an ethernet socket) and when I run the same test using Ookla on my phone it's around 500mbps. A lot closer to the 680mbps Sky are indicating the hub/router is receiving. Is the loss of 180mbps normal when using wifi?

Re: Download speed significantly less that reported hub speed (Gigafast

Thanks for the feedback - answers my question and would suggest the speed I'm getting is normal (if a little bit less than I'd hoped, but fine for the sort of demands the household has).
