Does the er115 router work with Ultrafast Broadband?

I have just had Ultrafast installed. All my wireless devices have picked up the new signal just fine. HOWEVER my existing router er115  (connected via ethernet to my PC upstairs) cannot "see" the new broadband and the "internet" green light (the middle one) is not lit up. Should I have been sent another router?

A Q Hub is obsolete once a Sky Broadband Hub is in place for Ultrafast (G.fast or FTTP) and Sky will be asking for it back.

Whatever you're trying to use it for isn't how it's intended to be used ; )

Sky Glass 55" (on ethernet) & two Stream Pucks (one ethernet / one WiFi)
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

The ER115 is not suitable for Ultrafast and nor is using two Sky routers on one network. You should have an SR203/4 connected to the ONT and that's it.

Thank you, I did not realise that the ER115 was now redundant, this was not mentioned by the Sky Engineer when he installed Ultrafast. Sorry this may seem a daft question but do I now remove the ethernet cable linking the PC and the old router with the idea that the PC picks up the Broadband wirelessly?

No you should just remove the ethernet cable from the old router and insert it into the new one

That would only work if the PC has on-board WiFi (many desktops do not)

The problem is, the way it was set up before, is that I had a main Sky hub downstairs plus the ER115 upstairs in the study with my PC. Are you saying that I should buy a really long ethernet cable to reach from my study to the downstairs hub? Is this how people normally connect to Ultrafast when their PC is on a different floor?

Nope: they typically add WiFi to the PC with a 'dongle' (USB) or expansion card.  Some choose to use Powerline network adapters in their mains sockets.

I use ethernet, but I'm weird like that ; )

The way you had it setup before is kind of wrong in terms of networking and I am surprised it even worked.

Your options to connect your PC would be;

- Run a long ethernet cable

- Use Powerline adapters

- Get a Sky booster and place it near your PC then connect the booster to the PC via ethernet to create a WiFi bridge

- Use WiFi on the PC if it has it, if not you'll need to buy a dongle.
