Does sky limit WiFi range and prioritise sky q

Hello All,

I was previously with plus net broadband and never had an issue with the range of the WiFi from their supplied router this also include the WiFi speed was always high.

since moving to full fiber from sky the sky hub max WiFi range is awful put where there is connection the downlaod speed is 300Kbp and only at 2.4GHz

It feels that skys equipment is limited as I would imagine the technology would need to meet the standards.

it also looks like sky devices such as sky q is priotised over other connections.

For 5GHz I need to be sitting on top of the router which defeats the object.

the advice and recommendations from sky seem to be be closer to the router or use wired all of which means WiFi is pointless.

although the case use to be isp routers where poor sky customers are locked and unable to use another 3rd party router,

any advice would be appreciated

The Max Hub does not prioritise Q television hardware: in fact it doesn't support the features of the 'Q mesh' at all.

Am trying to understand with the new sky hub max how the WiFi issues suddenly improve when you pay £4 a month compared to not paying previously

The WiFi Max subscription supplement is separate to the Max Hub: it covers booster 'pod' loan, Parental Controls and supposedly enhanced 'cloud' security.

The Hub itself has the same physical characteristics with or without the additional monthly payment.

You'll find multiple posts in this forum from Max Hub users who have found their local WiFi has apparently got worse rather than improved on moving to the new hardware.
