Does Sky latest router with digital voice cause broadband speed drop . BT’s Smart Hub 2 does

Living in the country we have a long wired service with FTTC.  We were getting a synchronised download speed of 28 mbs. BT supplied a new Smart Hub 2 with digital voice and our speed dropped to 16 mb/s . Phone worked very well. Some research showed BT has a major problem with this lack of router compatibility.

 

I do also have a separate SKY telephone line and broadband service as well which I am happy with. I am now thinking of moving my BT line to SKY as well.

 

Can any one tell me if SKY has similar problems with reduced broadband speed when going to Digital Voice . Does SKY provide a router  with built in Digital voice similar to the BT Smart Hub 2 .

Yes: all ISPs are doing so, because once PSTN is switched off nationally that's the only way in which 'landline' voice telephony can be delivered.  The Sky models are the Broadband Hub and the Max Hub: the previous Q Hub is no longer provided for new subscriptions.

Thanks for replying and I recognise that all ISPs are going digital.

 

The question was about problems of slow broadband speed that does sometime happen when using. BT Smart Hub 2 with digital voice.  Are there reports of this happening with SKY Routers?


It seems the slow speed on changing to BT Smart Hub 2 is not uncommon and a mismatch of chipsets between router and DSLAM in some cabinets might be the problem. 

The solution for me is likely to be to switch to SKY but I wanted to make sure there was no similar problem.

I have not seen any reports on the Sky forum of users speeds being decreased when using digital voice
