Hi, a couple of weeks ago, I upgraded my old Sky broadband to Sky Superfast Broadband.
Sky fumbled the delivery of my new Sky Hub 4.2, as they never dispatched it.
The remote activation date for my Superfast was yesterday, for which I received the text that it is now activated.
I thought I would be able to use the old Sky router while I wait for the new one, which I believe should still work, albeit probably with a lower connection speed, but It does not receive connection, although it powers on and shows the power & wifi lights, but the internet light is off.
I have tried an even older Sky router & the same issue arises.
I have run the connection tests and at the end of the test it always says to book an engineer.
Should I book an engineer for tomorrow, or wait for the new hub to be delivered (likely on Friday) & go from there?

What hub do you have at the minute
Sr102 or er115
Superfast can be delivered either by fttc along copper lines or by fttp with a fibre optic modem
If you have the er115 with the above modem it should still work with internet calls
Plug the ethernet from the ont to the last ethernet port on the sky hub.
If its superfast fttc then either the sr102 or the er115 should work

Hi, thanks for the response. It says SR101 on the router.

That is a legacy unsupported model that should still work on a fttc connection to the openreach mastersocket but probably not with the fttp fibre modem above
Were you told which connection you were going to get

It says FTTP is not available

The SR101 is only ADSL2+ and will not work with Sky superfast broadband.

Traditional connection to an openreach mastersocket. So it should work. However if that from an old adsl line copper to the exchange the authentication details may be wrong

Thanks for the informed response.
So, I should wait for my new Sky Hub to arrive and set it up, before seeing whether an engineer needs to be booked?
Is it just a matter of my current router is too old & outdated and the new router will be up and running right away when I set it up?

That is correct, wait for the new router and it will then work fine.

It is a remote actiyation . The engineer should just require access to the green roadside cabinet and shouldn't need access to your property, No need for you to book anyone else

Cheers mate. New Hub getting delivered tomorrow as I have received the tracking for it. Hopefully it really is just a matter of plugging in the new router!

I believe it has already been remotely activated, as I received the text informing me yesterday. New hub will be delivered tomorrow, so hopefully it is just a plug & play job & everything is good to go!

New line can go live up until 23:59 tomorrow evening.
Let us know that you have received the hub and that the line goes live

"The remote activation date for my Superfast was yesterday"
Then it should be active as off yesterday evening 🤞
