Does Sky Broadband have security included.
Hi,
I'm just changing from BT broadband, which has Norton security included, to Sky broadband and wanted to see if they have internet security included or whether I need to install one of my own.
Thanks

Re: Does Sky Broadband have security included.
You'll need to install your own, as Sky no longer offers a security anti-virus/anti-malware package with their service.
Zen internet on FTTP (900Mbps down, 100Mbps up). SAT> IP (Apple 4K 2nd gen TV to LG C1 OLED UHD TV/Dolby Atmos Denon AVR, DacMagic Plus for Hi-Res audio), hosting own blog/forum (cluster), OPNsense & Zenarmor L4/L7 NGFW & DPI IDS/IPS, Asus ET12 Pro Tri-Band wifi, Linux, Gamer: Xbox Series X/i7 laptop, round-robin DNS over HTTPS, non-proprietary VoIP HD AMR-WB (G.722.2) and more... Beta tester Apple iOS/watchOS/tvOS/iPadOS/macOS.

Re: Does Sky Broadband have security included.
@Diane14 it is usually better and cheaper to buy your own internet security software rather than taking a bundle. Sky still have links to Mcafee but it is several years since they worked. Personally I use Bit Defender but there is a recent comparison review here https://uk.pcmag.com/suites-2/8400/the-best-security-suites
According to BT's price list their "virus protect" product list as £5.21 per month. Currently Norton 360 lists at £15 for a one year 5 deviice licence but dont let it auto renew as thst is where Norton make the profit.
65inch Sky Glass, 3 Sky Streaming Pucks, Sky Ultrafast + and Sky SR213(white Wifi Max hub) main Wifi from 3 TP-Link Deco M4 units in access point mode

Re: Does Sky Broadband have security included.
Thank you. I've purchased Norton which I've loaded on my laptop, it won't load on my iPad as doesn't have the right IOS. Not sure about iPhone as getting message stating "weak security" beneath the Sky WiFi information. Which concerns me.

Re: Does Sky Broadband have security included.
Which iPad do you have? Or which iOS is it running?
As for your phone saying weak security this can be ignored as Apple has decided to label all networks that use WPA2 as 'weak' even though its still very much secure and the majority of WiFi networks still use WPA2.

Re: Does Sky Broadband have security included.
Apple only needs WPA2-PSK (AES) to mark it as secure.

Re: Does Sky Broadband have security included.
It would be best if you did not ignore the weak security it means that one is likely using WPA2-PSK (TKIP) which is weak and broken, you need to set the security to at least WPA2-PSK (AES) which is secure currently.

Re: Does Sky Broadband have security included.
I have never been a big fan of Norton and have always preferred McAfee.
Since I moved from BT FTTC to Sky FTTC just over 10 months ago. I have just been using Windows Defender on my well over 7 year old Windows 10 laptop.
Not going to pay for anti-virus software when I will be looking at getting a new laptop at some point in the next year or so. As laptop has started to become slow once in a while.
