Does Max Hub need to be connected to the ONT?

Hi - I have my FTTP Sky Max hub connected to my ONT in my new build house, where the ONT is unfortunately in a cupboard!

I'm wanting to run a wired connection from my hub to my TV, but this is three rooms away and don't fancy drilling through the walls.

Is there any way I can set up the Sky Max hub in my living room where I already have an Ethernet socket in the wall? Away from the ONT? Or do the Ethernet sockets not work like that I.e. does the hub HAVE to remain tethered to the ONT?

@RyanJN1  If the ONT is connected to an ethernet cable and that feeds into the room where you are you should be able to connect to the wan on the Hub, be aware the other ethernet sockets may not be useable as they won't be connected to the hub.

ONT to Hub has to be over ethernet, but the cable itself can be in-wall instead of a loose patch lead as long as it's a contiguous connection.

Theoretically it's also possible to use a pair of Powerline adapters (because this emulates ethernet), but such a link could well be a bottleneck for 500Mbs and gigabit FTTP.

Typically you have a patch panel in the cupboard leading to ethernet ports in the rooms. So if you only want ethernet in the living room, you just take a cable from a Hub LAN port to the appropriate port on the patch panel. This often requires trial & error as they're rarely labelled!

If you need better WiFi in the living room too, then the cable from the ONT goes into the patch panel & the ethernet in the living room goes to LAN4/WAN on the Hub.
