Dedicated WAN port on any Sky hub?

Thanks to an ultimatum from Sky (apparently the Cu wires are being ripped out by Openreach in my neighbour soon)  I am "upgrading" from FTTC to FTTP.  I have been told that I will be getting the Sky Hub 4.2 which looks identical to the hub I received in 2017.  I hope there have been some firmware changes in the last 9 years!  One of the problems is that it does not have a dedicated WAN port and you must lose an ethernet port for FTTP.  This is not acceptable to me.  I asked Sky support if any of their routers has a dedicated WAN port I was told 'no'  Is this correct?  Even the more 'advanced' models limit you to 3 measly ethernet ports?  All this really does is comfirm me in my view that I should continue using my Draytek

@No2ID  If your budget allows might i suggest a multi wan route such as the 3910 it has:

2 = 10Gb SFP+ ports

2 = 2.5Gb ports

8 = Gigabit ports, 4 of which are switchable to Gigabit wan ports

Future proofed unless you get 10gb FTTP 🙂

@No2ID  None of Sky's current hubs have a dedicated wan port, if losing a port is an issue you can purchase a cheap gigabit switch.

Which model draytek is it as some of them use the Telephone line for FTTC and FTTP does not, so you would not be able to use that port.  Does your draytek have a seperate ethernet wan port?

Re: Dedicated WAN port on any Sky hub?

Thanks.  Actually my 2765 is the same with a shared WAN/P4 but it is my intention to upgrade to the 2865 fairly soon that does have dedicated WAN port.  I use my Draytek mostly because it supports subnetting and VLANs I would think there is not a snowball's chance in hell of the Sky doing that 😁  Pity I have to lose my landline but a segemented network is more important to me.

Actually the Gigafast+ Hub does, but that's only for CityFibre circuits.

@TimmyBGood The SR203 has a dedicated WANoE port once you go set it in the unit, but it does drop you to only 3 lan ports after that fact, need more then £15 switch is the way to go! Only missing feature for the SR203 would be a USB port to power the switch but you just don't have everything in life!
