Connecting wifi to panasonic TV

 Hi , Please can anyone advise . Full Fibre Broadband /wifi installed last week and easily connected mobile devices to the new Sky Router using password provide however I have been unable to connect wifi to the Panasonic TV , even though I have tried many times using WPS , reset,  and rebooting ,etc . I have been able to select the wifi name and enter the password both on the Sky Q 'screen' and independently on the Panasonic TV , both screens tell me the pass word is incorrect  or internet not available .!

Am I missing something ? I have not tried an ethernet cable since the  router  is upstairs and the TV downstairs (aprox 15m cat5 cable would be needed) , perhaps this is the problem?. One message says I might need a Sky Q booster but somehow I just can't find how to order one.

I have not been able to speak to an engineer at Sky  and have read endless articles ............despondent now .

Thanks

With a white Max Hub you may need to reduce the wireless security level from WPA3 to WPA2-PSK using the Hub settings in the My Sky app.

You can use the same settings to temporarily disable the 5Ghz WiFi band: remember to re-enable it afterwards if you do this.

Hi TimmyBGood ,

Thank you for your reply however the Hub is a black one MODEL SR203hUK with a WPS button on the right hand side . I could have a look in the My Sky app to see if there are any references for the model I have ?

You won't find any: that Hub and earlier models aren't administered through the app.

You might need to unsynchronize and rename the WiFi bands.

As posted by @jamesn123

Note that this process does not apply to the new (white) Max Hub

So to split the two channels you need to go to your router config page which can be found by typing 192.168.0.1 into your web browser.

To access the page, you'll need;

username: admin

password: sky OR your WiFi password

- Select wireless from the navigation bar and scroll down a little and untick the 'Synchronise 2.4GHz and 5GHz settings'

- Scroll to the bottom of the page and hit apply.

- Once the page reloads you need to go to the 5GHz wireless settings page on the sub navigation bar below where you click wireless before

- In the 5GHz section you want to go to the box called 'Name (SSID)' and add something like 5g to the end of the current name

- Scroll down and hit apply

- Then on any wireless device you should now see two networks. One network will be the same name as usual and will be 2.4GHz band and the other will be the usual name with 5G on the end (Or whatever you typed). Connect any 5GHz capable device to the 5GHz network and see if it works correctly. The WiFi password should be the same if you havent changed it.

@TimmyBGood

Thank you for your further reply and the instructions you have given from @jamesn123 , looks like I will have to get a bit more 'technical' , so will save trying for another day when my husband is not viewing the various Sky channels ......I will try and report back with a successful outcome .....regards Angified
