Hi There,
I'm a new Sky customer on Full Fibre (to the house) having moved away from BT.
Fibre is all up and running through the new Sky Hub, However I have a Draytek 2927 Router, that was connected direct to the BT Fibre box that Openreach installed when on BT. This router is connected to my PoE Switch and then I have 2 x Zyxel AP's connected to that via Cat 6. I was wondering if it IS possible to connect my Draytek to an Ethernet Port on the Sky Hub, rather than connecting the Draytek directly to the Openreach box (bypassing the Sky Hub), the principal reason for this is that I have Sky Talk now aswell and need to connect phones directly to the Sky Hub, but I want to utilise the settings the Draytek gives me and management of the AP's rather than the limited management the Sky Hub gives me.
Is this possible and if so, are there any guides on doing this?
I have already established that my Draytek does work if I connect directly to the Open Reach box via Cat 6 and it connects to the Sky Full Fibre network absolutely fine.

Yes you can do this.
The recommended setup would be as follows;
- Give your Draytek router a static IP within the Sky hubs local IP range
- Disable DHCP on the Sky hub
- Disable WiFi on the Sky hub
- Put your Draytek router's static IP you configured earlier in the DMZ on the Sky hub

Re: Connecting a Draytek Vigor 2927 to Sky Hub
Thanks for the reply, sounds very promising that I can do this.
I've followed your instruction to a point, the issue I'm having though Is I can't find the DMZ setting on the Sky Hub interface (it's not where I would expect it to be under WAN settings, or anywhere else, having looked at all the options).

Re: Connecting a Draytek Vigor 2927 to Sky Hub
Uh I don't have a Sky hub myself anymore so can't say exactly but I believe it is under Advanced security or something like that.
@cookiemonsteruk @Chrisee Do you have the exact location of the DMZ setting in the Sky hub?

Thenaks @jamesn123
I have searched everywhere, but can't find anything for DMZ settings,
Just to note this is a Sky Connect BR440 Hub (if that helps at all)

Re: Connecting a Draytek Vigor 2927 to Sky Hub
Ah its the business hub okay. This forum only really has experience/knowledge with the domestic versions of the Sky hubs so if you can't find the DMZ option its possible that It does not exist in the business version.
It may be worth giving the Sky business support line a call and asking

Re: Connecting a Draytek Vigor 2927 to Sky Hub
@MikeWinspear If the draytek was originally connected direct to the ONT then you should still be able to do this with the Sky Fibre connection

I dont think thats an option anymore as they want to use Sky Talk so the Sky hub needs to be connected

Re: Connecting a Draytek Vigor 2927 to Sky Hub
@jamesn123 Good point,
@MikeWinspear as I remember from my Broadband with Sky I simply added the Sky hub to a wan port, I have the draytek set on the ip address XXX.XXX.1.1 range (removed the 1st set of 6 numbers) but the ip address will be the same for the Draytek router, just use the 1.1 ending.
The sky hub should happily connect this way and still allow access via the hub normal normal IP range. No need to DMZ the Sky hub on the draytek using this setup.

Re: Connecting a Draytek Vigor 2927 to Sky Hub
Thanks @GD1
Your suggestion actually got me realising a possible different approach, having just been on the phone to Sky Business who weren't able to help at all regarding DMZ setting on the Sky Business Hub.
From your response, I'm thinking that I connect the Draytek to the ONT (Which I know works fine), then connect the Sky Hub to a port on the Draytek, giving that port a WAN IP address, this should then be able to provide the SIP telephone lines that are configured on the Sky Hub??.

Best is to connect the Sky hub to the ONT, then connect Sky hub to the Draytek using the relevant WAN port.

Re: Connecting a Draytek Vigor 2927 to Sky Hub
I'm completely thrown now then.
So I have Sky Hub connected to the ONT (Openreach Box on the wall), I Have Cat 6 from a LAN port on the Skyhub connected to WAN Port 2 on the Draytek.
Sky hub has had IP Address Changed from their default to another 192.168.10 range
Draytek Management IP and Gateway address changed to a static address within the 192.168.10 range
Sky Hub doesn't see the Draytek as a connected device
To be honest, I'm not sure where to configure the IP as per your suggestion of xxx.xxx.1.1
Wan Port 2 on the Draytek is currently configured to Dynamic IP

Re: Connecting a Draytek Vigor 2927 to Sky Hub
@MikeWinspear The draytek need to be on the 1.1 range, you can change the ip range on your draytek. I presume the draytek isn't already using the ip address as detailed below?
I don't know what settings the Business Broadband uses to connect to the internet (was this ever provided?) As the domestic services uses DHCP Option 60/61 rather than PPoE, if it uses DHCP 60/61 on the wan port your connecting to you'll need to add the DHCP details to the DHCP Client Option tab within the WAN --> Internet settings menu.
The login string abc123@skydsl|abc123
TCP/IP Settings
On LAN >> General Setup >> LAN 1 Details page, you can change the IP settings. Network Administrators may use any IP subnet that is preferred, as long as it does not conflict with the WAN IP settings. By default, Vigor Router uses the subnet 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0
for the LAN interface, and 192.168.1.1
for itself. With such configuration, to access the router from its LAN, the network interface of the PC should be configured with an IP address also in the 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 subnet.

Re: Connecting a Draytek Vigor 2927 to Sky Hub
Note that connecting ONT > Draytek > Sky Hub will likely mean your VOIP through the Sky hub won't work. It has to be directly connected to WAN.
