Change to Fibre!
Sky phoned me and asked if I would change to fibre. They assured me there would be nothing extra to pay and everything would be the same. The installer (contracted out fro BT Outreach) came yesterday, cut my old copper cable out and replaced it with a new cable to my router. He said it would all be working after a few hours. A few hours came and went but I now find that all my extension phones are not working. Also, because my wifi wasn't very good around the house, I had had 2 TP wifi extenders put in and now these aren't working. Finally my 2 Sky boxes were plugged into the phone sockets (as requested by Sky in the past) and I now cannot download from the Sky boxes ( although I can still watch the TV through the Sky box). All in all a disaster and I'm sorry I started. And now I don't know which way to turn to get all this sorted out.

Re: Change to Fibre!
@Rodders7 Your sky boxes have not had to use a phone line for some years now they connect over wifi (sounds like you have Sky+ boxes) please try these steps to connect your Sky boxes to your broadband hub.
As you have fibre your phone connects to your hub making the internal phone connections redundant.

Please note I only provide help on the main forums and not via PM, PM's are switched off.

Re: Change to Fibre!
Thanks for this tip. It worked. But the signal to one of them is weak because the wifi extender near it isn't working. What can I do about the wifi extenders?
And how are the phones supposed to work. They are old phones. Do I have to get new phones?

Re: Change to Fibre!
@Rodders7 only the phone socket on the hub will work so you may find gerring a cordless.phone set useful if you want more than one phone.
Extendrrs need to match the hub somif you havevthe white Sky Max hub old Sky boosters won't work but they should with the black Sky hubs so try movingbthe booster closer the best postion is halfway between the hub and where you need the boost.
65inch Sky Glass, 3 Sky Streaming Pucks, Sky Ultrafast + and Sky SR213(white Wifi Max hub) main Wifi from 3 TP-Link Deco M4 units in access point mode

Unfortunately that's as expected: there's no longer a 'phone' signal on any internal extension cabling.

Sky boxes have never downloaded over phone sockets: a dial-up internet connection is far too slow for that (and hasn't existed as a technology for at least a decade)
