Change of broadband service to fiberoptic

I was recently changed or upgraded to sky fiberoptic broadband on a 2 year deal. I am completely disappointed I now cannot get any wi if anywhere else in my house apart from the living room where the router is and the kitchen adjacent to it.All the WiFi signals are reading extremely poor in the bedrooms or non existent. My son was on holiday and has come home and neither his X box or phone will work ,we want to cancel and feel we have been misleading as we didn't even want to change our service but we're told we had to as all areas was going fiberoptic and our service was going to be discontinued. We have had sky broadband for years with no issues What is my next step I have tried a WiFi booster and it hasn't helped.

@Cstre001 That is what happens when the hub get's moved the signal no longer goes about as before. What sky hub do you have is it the Black SR203 model. Can you say what make model of the booster that you got for working with the sky. Booster ideally about 30 foot away from the router and halfway between the to area's that you need covered.

Also if you can say what speed you had on copper, normal with sky is the 40/10 or the 80/20 split's, and what you selected for the fibre package, they go 100,300,500 and 1000mb/s.

Re: Change of broadband service to fiberoptic

@Cstre001 When you upgraded to fibre,

1. Did the postion of the router have to change.

2. Did you also change the router type or stay with what you had previous.

3. Is the Extender you are using an existing sky, or a new sky because you needed it, but did not improve the situation.

4. Before any position change was it all working fine with no issues apart from the lower speed you would have had.

Sky don't  upgrade  your broadband  unless you have  asked for it to be done

Do you have one of these installed

this is an optical  network terminal box  for fibre broadband and you will  have one  of these boxes outside of the  house

Re: Change of broadband service to fiberoptic

We have the sr203 box it says but it was moved from the hallway to the living room with the main sky box and it's connected to an open reach white box bolted to the wall , we get 100 Mbps and up in the living room but as soon as you leave the living room it drops by a 3rd at least and about 38ft to my son's bedroom on the same floor and he gets between 19mbps and 50mbps constantly changing

Re: Change of broadband service to fiberoptic

Can you recommend a sky booster make or model?

Re: Change of broadband service to fiberoptic

@Cstre001 The offical booster from sky is the SE210 with an Ethernet port, or the SE210a without the ethernet port. They were part of the sky boost program but not even sure if sky are now doing or not, was an extra £4/month.

Asked already what booster did you buy the non sky one, and is it NOT working?
