@Debbs111

Do you have a white or a black Sky Hub?

The wirelesss bands cannot be unsynchronised and renamed on a Max Hub.

@Debbs111 for the log in on the older black hubs use admin as the user and the default wifi password on the label as the password if the hub is the upright design or the word sky if you have one of the older flat type of units. These instructions explain the steps Split Sky WiFi bands

Do I need to use "admin" and "password"?

If so that doesn't work

Scrap that last comment, I got in. I unticked the Synchronise 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Settings

clicked apply, but it just keeps reopening the page. Am I missing something?

It says

2.4 GHz WiFi Settings at the top of the page

Re: Cant connect smart plugs. I know its been asked before

Splitting the SSID shouldn't be absolutely necessary to connect Smart plugs, and most smart devices should be able to use either band while synchronised, apart from a minority. I would first try changing the wifi security to WPA2 in the MySky app (select broadband in product settings, then select Max Hub - WiFi Settings - Advanced settings - WiFi security level. Select WPA2 then apply) as this could be the issue if you have the white Max hub.

If it doesn't work for you then you can continue to try and temporarily disable 5ghz on the hub.

Re: Cant connect smart plugs. I know its been asked before

Hi, I finally managed to split it and the plugs worked, but the router now wont connect to the sky box, no matter what i try.

I have tried it with both the 2 and 5Ghz and nothing.

Im going to try the advice above, but at this point im jut so temped to plug my old one back in even though its crap 🙈

Re: Cant connect smart plugs. I know its been asked before

@Debbs111 @To be clear, the SSID on the hub 6 cannot be split to have both 2.4 and 5ghz independently. You can disable one or the other, but it needs to be temporary.

If you are struggling to get both bands working again you can perform a factory reset of the hub.

Hold the wps button on the side for around 30 seconds until the light starts pulsing green. If it flashes blue it's not been pressed long enough.

Sky Q needs to connect on 2.4 ghz on the hub 6, opposed to 5ghz with the hub 3/3.5 and 4.2.

You may need to go to network setup in the Sky Q menu and reset the network settings. Then try selecting the connect over wps option, following the on screen instructions. If it doesn't connect via wps then you can try using the option for other broadband provider using the password input.
If you have more than one Sky Q box then the network needs to be reset on all of them, but only one can be wps'd to the router, with the reset needing to be connected to another Sky Q node.
