Can’t connect Samsung tv to sky

Just changed to sky broadband (the new white box) and not only is it absolutely horrific signal where I am, it absolutely will not connect to my sons Samsung tv. Sky have been not helpful at all, so what what am I supposed to do just him not have a tv because of their crappy WiFi? Seems to be a problem as I've seen a few people have the same issue but to no avail.
Not quite sure what to do to be honest

It sounds like the Samsung TV wireless adapter isn't compatible with the latest wireless standard offered by and provided by Sky Max. Usually, older TVs are only compatible with 802.11ac 5Ghz band A whereas Sky Max is 5Ghz band A, B and C and Sky Max has used a channel in bands B & C for the area concerned.

Recommend the community member use another method of connecting the TV via ethernet over powerline adapters or indeed upgrade the TV as a last resort.

Re: Can’t connect Samsung tv to sky

It's not an older tv, it's about 12 months old that's all, so shouldn't be old enough to be having those sorts of problems, and Ethernet is an option I agree, but my phone line is at the bottom of my house and said tv is in a bedroom up stairs so not sure that will work, buying a non Samsung tv might work but I think that would be silly to do as I don't have £300 to waste, just annoying that any other provider I have had works except SKY. Frustrating!

Have you confirmed the wireless is compatible with the latest standards of wireless, even a TV recently purchased may not conform to the latest chipset wireless standards? The make and model number of the Samsung TV would be useful and contacting the TV manufacturer for advice on the standard it supports and 5Ghz bands, eg: bands A, B & C on 5Ghz channels are needed for Sky Max.

That is some distance from the Sky Max router as well, may be wise if you have Sky Max to get in touch with Sky to obtain a Sky Max Pod.

Recommend customer contact Sky for a wireless Sky Max Pod, this should be installed halfway between the router and bedroom in distance.
