Re: Can I use a broadband dongle to get a signal out in the garden?

Hi, thanks, I want to use a desk top in a summerhouse about 20m away, my router is in the lounge, I get a signal outside for about 10ft then it goes.

I would need to buy a dongle if it going to work out.

What size of garden and what area of it do you actually need to cover with wifi?

And what devices do you wish to use outside?

Sky Stream , Sky Superfast, SR203 router, Tp link td w9970 + Asus RT AX58U (backup), Xbox Series X, google home mini, LG 43 inch UHD tv, samsung a5 2017 and samsung s21

You may be misunderstanding the concept: a 'dongle' (most likely a USB wireless adapter) makes a desktop capable of WiFi reception, but only within range of an existing signal.  It does not increase the power of that signal so that it can reach somewhere not already covered.

You could use a Powerline adapter to link the router to your desktop in the summerhouse.

@Robb0  That is only possible if the house and the sumer house run off the same consumer unit.
