Me and my partner are looking to get internet in my household that is just ours. We'd need this to be set up in our bedroom which is upstairs. The reason this is essential is because my parents already have virgin media downstairs and we just want our own one upstairs.
Is this a possibility?

Do you currently have an 'BT' master socket at the address?
Having a VM connection in tandam with an Openreach one is certainly possible as long as you have either. an existing copper connection (BT/Openreach) or if your address is able to have FTTP installed.
As for the bedroom aspect, typically these are installed on the ground floor...but you may be able to speak to the engineer on the day of install and agree when it can go (pending the engineer having ladders etc.)

My partners going to call them up later to see what we can do about it. I don't think my house has ever had bt though we have previously had sky

Find out moreBoth FTTC and FTTP infrastructure (copper or optical cable, and then a master socket or an ONT) is typically installed only on the ground floor at a domestic address. Remember that for wireless devices it doesn't actually matter where the socket is, but this becomes important if, for example, landline calling is provisioned from the router.
