Can I get the Orbi RBK853 mesh system to work with Sky FTTP?
There are a few threads about the Orbi and its compatibility with Sky Broadband, but I can't get it to work, and I don't know what the issue is.
Basically, the Sky FTTP Broadband was set up this morning, and when I plug the Orbi into one of the Ethernet sockets on the Sky router, it doesn't connect to the internet. I had a call with someone at Sky earlier, and she was just Googling while we were on the phone, so she was no help.
I've also tried plugging the Orbi straight into the ONT socket in the wall, but that didn't work.
I'm still in the cooling-off period, so I'm fully prepared to go back to Plusnet, because at least I know that it's possible to turn their router into modem-only mode, which, as far as I can see, isn't possible with the Sky router
Any advice would be helpful at this point.
If anyone has experience of making this setup work, I'd be really grateful!

@swainsy Have you went to the netgear site and downloaded the manual on how to setup the ORBI, it is NOT the same as doing on a Plusnet system. Will be wan settings, you need to use automatic ip and not a pppoe.

Hi, thanks for responding. I don't know what you mean, to be honest; I could look at the setup guide, but that doesn't specifically relate to Sky, so I'm not sure it'll help.

@swainsy You may just wish to look through the sky forum then and glean anything that you think may be useful to setting up the ORBI direct on the ONT. It's not difficult and the manual has a step by step guide, for automatic setup. You will lose all your plusnet settings, so you must have done this before.

Thank you. I ended up speaking to them on the phone and they advised me to factory reset the Orbi, which worked.

@swainsy So are you now connected with the Orbi direct on the ONT with Wan connection from the Orbi to the Lan on the ONT modem?

Yep, the Orbi is wired straight to the ONT socket with no additional router. Works perfectly!
