Broadband up and down

The speed of the broadband is constantly peaking and tumbling.  One second it will be 100mbps, then next it can be measured in kb. 

 

The broadband drops out altogether frequently too.  

 

I had thought that this problem would resolve itself after a few days, then weeks... it hasn't.  Resetting and/or restarting the router has done nothing.  Neither has unplugging the router, along with all the sky boxes and tv and restarting.

 

Advice gratefully received.
